Thehab safi… Arabic for, roughly, “pure gold”. A play on the iconic singer’s name, Wadih El Safi. Yet another brilliantly drawn portrait by Ashekman. This was taken in the street of Monot in the heart of Beirut, and we must say that searching for graffiti in Beirut is not always an easy feat! Other than the usual I-almost-got-run-over-by-that-car, there’s also the impossibility of finding an empty sidewalk to be able to take a clear picture. One day, there’s a van parked right in the middle of the drawing, the next, an even bigger truck! Ah, Beirut, tiring but still so magical.
